In a normal American town, life seems to just get better and better for Ed, homeowner and father of two. Not only does he have a job and his own home, but he's just met the woman of his dreams, totally upgraded his house, bought a new BMW-Z, and made his first foray--with her almost missionary prodding--into the wonderful world of real estate investments. All this on just the salary of a sanitary worker. And a little financial wizardry from his mortgage broker, who happens to live across the street. Then the market collapses and Ed suddenly finds himself mortgaged to the hilt and out of a job. Is revenge his only option?
TRUMPED! Sex Money Real Estate a love story eBook S Pareto Rose
Trumped is a funny, timely satire of the American Dream gone awry. Tatiana is the Astonian blonde bombshell with dreams of wealth. She idolizes self-help gurus, and believes that get-rich-quick schemes work. Poor and newly arrived in America, she's determined to get her hands on money to build her real estate empire, and it's a moot point whether she uses sex or savvy to do it. Equally scheming is Mickey Schulz, a mortgage broker who dangles fast money from flipping houses, and feels no compunction over his shady practices. But schemers need a victim. Enter Ed Fasouli, a hard-working sewer treatment plant engineer. He thinks he can win Tatiana if he is rich. He's wary at first of real estate, but all of his friends are borrowing and buying with nothing down, and swear it's the way to wealth. With Tatiana and Mickey singing like sirens in his ears, Ed, mesmerized by the promise of sex, wealth, and an easy lifestyle, plunges into questionable real estate deals. The characters stick with you, and are crafted with a deft hand. The colliding motives set up comic problems for the hero, who soon finds his house torn up from incompetent contractors, and his dreams of wealth, not to mention his nest egg, going up in smoke. My heart went out to Ed as I felt the train wreck coming. The tension only increased as the pages passed, and the question of who ultimately gets trumped will keep you riveted.
Like all great fiction, Trumped! rings true. Ed is perfect as the All-American Joe. He's you and me. He's all of us, naively trusting in the system. And like all great satires, the bite is there, but so is the wit and irony; we identify with the main character, and we can laugh at ourselves. Trumped gives us solace for our follies, and reconnects us with the values that made us strong: Family and hard work. Fiction that can help us do that is great art.
Trumped! is a fun, funny, sharp, witty, and spot on satire. Let's hope The Donald will read Trumped! and bankroll the movie! Reviewed By, Bard Jongleur

TRUMPED! Sex Money Real Estate a love story eBook S Pareto Rose Reviews
I have not had a lot of time to read lately, and my reading has been slow. By pure coincidence TRUMPED fell into my hands - and hey..., what a nice entertaining surprise! I finished it in less than 4 days. Sounds (reads?) like a Hollywood movie to me... Must read for everyone who is into Real Estate - or not...!
Brandishing humor like a powerful torch, 'Trumped' authoress Susan Rose-Pareto sheds light on painful truths. She also provides the comic relief that enables readers to laugh the pain away without so much as a lingering twinge.
'Trumped' is a hilarious parody highlighting the crooked practices of unethical realtors and the trials and tribulations they work on their unsuspecting victims. True to the best tradition of social comedy, this superb take-off on human nature piles nail-biting risk upon nail-biting fiasco to culminate in a satisfying climax which shows that nice guys don't always finish last.
Satire at its best, 'Trumped' cries out to be turned into a side-splitting film.
Built into the fabric of our political, social and economic lives is that curiously attractive and potentially dangerous mythos called the "American dream". In Trumped, Susan Pareto-Rose takes us on a no-holds-barred, satirical romp with a shockingly familiar cast of characters, through the recent real estate boom, which most of us have now come to recognize as overindulgence in this mythos run-amuck. While currently trying to come to terms with the moral, economic, and socially chaotic wounding left in the wake of this overindulgence (i.e., foreclosures, bankruptcies, loss of credit, unemployment, homelessness, broken families, and broken dreams), Pareto-Rose has given us this wonderful, funny book to read and laugh out-loud at ourselves. While I tried to resist identifying with them as best I could, I found little bits of myself reflected in each of the story's characters, from the most genuinely innocent and vulnerable to the most manipulative and morally bankrupt. What is it about getting rich fast, about getting ridiculously large sums of money for doing very little or no work, about the presumed associations between money, power, attractiveness, sex, notoriety and a "no-worries-money-will-cure- everything" attitude or life style, that pull on us so tenaciously? Read Trumped for some insights into this question, and to have a lot of fun along the way. While the book is a very strong parody of people, places, real estate business and culture, and current times, the author finds enough wiggle room in her main characters to create a surprisingly tender and poignant love story. This adds a soft, warming counterbalance to the book's provocative satire, which, in my opinion, expands and enriches the story to make it even more enjoyable.
I would like to buy a copy for every mortgage broker and realtor that "guided" me blindfolded through the Marin market. I survived but had to sell and move out or I would have lost it all like I thought would happen to Ed. Many laughs and many bad memories combined. Could not relate to the photo on the front but you developed the character of Tatiana so well that I now love the cover. She is the Helen of Troy who survives all the shenanigans and is left standing - probably now driving a Mercedes and owns a new McMansion in Novato. Great read and thoroughly researched. Great partnership in writing!
